A leading group supplying the aerospace, defence and technology sectors has a new vacancy for a Materials Engineer. With experience working in precision engineering you will have a relevant qualification (Metallurgy or Materials Science) and an understanding of special processing techniques and testing characterisation.

Salary: £ 38,000 - £ 45,000 p.a. + pension
Suitable for: Metallurgist, Materials Science Engineer, Senior Metallurgist, Material Process Engineer, Senior Laboratory Engineer.
Working for a leading and innovative manufacturer as the Materials Engineer you will ideally have a good understanding of aerospace manufacturing techniques and in-depth knowledge of testing techniques.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing day to day support to the internal production facilities and external suppliers.
Performance of metallographic investigations with a high degree of autonomy.
Approval of internal special process techniques.
Participation in special process audits both within the company, regulatory authorities, and suppliers.
Participation in the multidisciplinary Core of Excellence team.
Produce technical reports and conducting technical investigations
Carry out R&D on new materials or components
Applicants for the role of Materials Engineer must have a degree in metallurgy, or materials engineering ideally with a minimum of two years‘ experience working in a Metallurgy position. A qualified Engineer you will be conversant with special process manufacturing techniques, technical report writing and in-depth knowledge of testing characterization techniques.
Candidates must have knowledge of fractography and the forensic engineering of metallic materials and a good understanding of corrosion and their protection mechanisms.
