Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit the MTC has a unique opportunity for a Sales and Commercial Director. The role will provide leadership of a multi-million pound Sales/Business Development team that is focused on working with SMEs across Manufacturing Support Services (MSS) and Product Manufacturing Incubation (PMI).

The Role    

 

The Sales and Commercial Director role will achieve compound annual growth at a rate of 20% and be integral to overall success of the Industrial Growth Sector through identification, closing and delivery of impactful projects. The role will have people management responsibility for a team of highly experienced business development professionals (regionally based), each with their own individual performance objectives. The role will take ownership of sales performance - measured across but not limited to; lead generation, pipeline management and order intake. The role will be responsible for developing and closing a pipeline of opportunities for the team to deliver revenue objectives along with accountability for quality of proposal generation within MSS/PMI. The role will be responsible for customer escalation issues with debt/invoicing for MSS/PMI clients, along with responsibility for associate engagement with third party contractors. The role will also be responsible for establishing contract terms and conditions with clients and ensure adherence, establishing non industrial or catapult funding streams to drive more opportunities within the customer base and be accountable for the strategic marketing plan and ensuring it is used to generate a pipeline of opportunities.

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Proven capability for leading sales/business development teams in attainment of ambitious commercial growth targets.

  • Deep understanding of a variety of manufacturing environments with an ability to identify and articulate opportunities for cross-industry knowledge transfer.

  • Familiarity with how The High Value Manufacturing Catapult and other Research Technology Organisations (RTOs) operate.

  • Experience of working in environments where income is generated via direct industrial, government funded and Collaborative Research & Development (CR&D) projects exist is parallel.

  • Demonstrable track record of developing relationships with private and publicly funded organisations.

 

 

The Person

 

The successful candidate for the role of Sales and Commercial Director will have/be:

  • Proven capability for leading sales/business development teams in attainment of ambitious commercial growth targets.

  • Deep understanding of a variety of manufacturing environments with an ability to identify and articulate opportunities for cross-industry knowledge transfer.

  • Familiarity with how The High Value Manufacturing Catapult and other Research Technology Organisations (RTOs) operate.

  • Experience of working in environments where income is generated via direct industrial, government funded and Collaborative Research & Development (CR&D) projects exist is parallel.

  • Demonstrable track record of developing relationships with private and publicly funded organisations.
