Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking an Research Engineer - Modelling and Simulation Analyst. The role is for an Research Engineer, based in the Modelling and Simulation department within Digital Engineering group, delivering work and fundamental research in the area of Business and Factory Optimisation.

The purpose of the Research Engineer - Modelling and Simulation Analyst is to support the Business and Factory Optimisation team by contributing to projects and fundamental research that include requirements specification, creative problem solving, solution concepts, robust model development, and delivery of analysis of manufacturing and
/ or business processes at multiple levels, ranging from part to global supply network.
The role will apply knowledge and experience of conducting modelling and simulation studies on real engineering and business problems to help MTC clients achieve their broad ranging goals as they drive towards achieving manufacturing excellence.
In addition, the role will help deliver the business strategic imperatives to enable solutions for UK Grand Challenges for the benefit of accelerating the UK‘s industrial growth. They will work in multi-disciplinary teams delivering consistently high-quality projects through technical planning, meeting governance requirements and manage client relationships and expectations for these projects. The successful candidate will also contribute to leadership activities of the team, department and business.
The successful candidate will also contribute to and lead projects across the MTC‘s sectors and the product or asset lifecycle. Key project activities include: requirements capture and project scoping; concept modelling and abstracting of client processes; developing appropriate and suitable models informing the delivery of analysis; developing project documentation in line with MTC standards and best practices.
The role is expected to provide a level of business and technical excellence, and proactively contribute and support towards, and develop personal and professional skills in line with, the functional leads of the department, as well as supporting others in the teams to accomplish the same.
The successful candidate is expected to work semi-autonomously and produce project work in line with the Modelling and Simulation Department and MTC best practices and policies.
The ideal candidate for the role of Research Engineer - Modelling and Simulation Analyst will have/be:
At least 3 years‘ experience working in a fast-paced academic, research or commercial project-based environment;
Strong logical reasoning and analytical skills;
A relevant engineering, mathematics, manufacturing, operational or business or any other relevant background or Degree, with a particular focus to industrial applications;
High level of experience conducting factory, business, logistics or supply chain modelling and simulation studies;
Subject matter industrial experience in one or more of the core areas of the team:
Discrete Event Simulation,
Systems dynamics or agent-based,
Digital integration such as multi-methods or augmented intelligence,
mathematical, cost and business modelling,
Kinematic modelling, virtual build simulation/ virtual validation;
Familiar with conducting modelling and simulation studies within VVUQ frameworks;
Modelling of one or more levels of the product lifecycle;
Familiar with one or more Programming language and its application to the above core areas;
Desirable to have knowledge in sustainability or circular economy;
Desirable to have collaborative R&D bid writing experience, as lead or contributor;
Strong acumen in research methods, horizon scanning, publications, conferencing, and strategic networking across academia and industry;
Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills.
