Consilium spearheading Green Marine

Britain is experiencing not just a ship building revolution but a green one at that!

The government has already declared that it wants the UK to once again become “a shipbuilding superpower” in a move that will help deliver the levelling up promised for some of the left behind regions.

However, this isn’t about volume, be it the size or number of ships actually built in the UK, but about technology that powers them and particularly decarbonisation.

Boyed by a target of cutting CO2 by 50% by 2050, the maritime industry has already launched with some advanced developments already underway with the UK a genuine pioneer in this field with significant investment already made in naval architecture, battery, hydrogen, methanol and even advanced sail technology to cut pollution and decarbonise.

One major success is Belfast based Artemis Technology who partnered with Consilium Recruit to help build its team of specialists. Recognising that 30% of emissions come from smaller vessels such as ferries and workboats that typically travel shorter distances, then electrification was adopted as being the best power solution.  To view more about Artemis Technology visit https://www.consiliumrecruit.com/artemis

However, this has been combined with cutting edge hydrofoil technology to lift then boat out of the water, and reduce resulting drag so when combined with the electric drivetrain, makes for a highly efficient and low polluting solution.

Using technology derived from Artemis’s work on America’s Cup racing yachts, the whole approach to marine design and naval architecture has been completely transformed and a new industry sector created with thousands of potential new jobs to follow.

This is typically where the UK excels, in advanced engineering and innovation, which is why in addition to the right funding streams being made available, the other key ingredient to success is sourcing the right talent.  This is where Consilium Recruit excels, having operated as a specialist in the fields of low carbon, battery and fuel cell technology for all transport sectors including Automotive, Aerospace, and Rail as well as Maritime for over a decade now.

This July (7th & 8th) sees the Battery Cells & Systems Expo return to the NEC. Consilium Recruit is delighted to announce its attendance as the only Specialist Recruitment Exhibitor and would welcome any visitors wishing to discuss any aspect of recruitment within this dynamic and high-technology sector. You’ll find us at Stand 18-309.
